LI: Using smart searching skills and exploring articles through out the world. 

The above DLO of google maps showcases five articles throughout the world. To complete this activity I combined with Afatia and first found news from various sites and then categorized it in different categories like oddity, progress, unexpected, relevance etc. The most interesting news for me was that a new species of snake was found in Assam, which is a state in India. It was also interesting as the name of the snake was kept on a snake in the Harry Potter series. I gained a lot of information after completing this combined task with Afatia.

Tech: Robotics

This week for our year 8 robotics session we went to Tamaki College and worked with Ms. Ferguson. We did coding on the Mbot robot through the Mblock site. This was my first class with Ms. Ferguson and I enjoyed a lot. Everybody was given their individual robot and we wrote the action, lighting and sound on the site and transferred the commands through a plug. We had to try again and again to have the correct speed and correct time. We had to make the robot move a square and I received a lot of help by Florence and Ms. Ferguson. Finally when my robot moved a square with the correct speed and time I add the sound to the robot. I was very happy that time as I had tried a lot and also came to learn a lot about algorithms and commands.  

My Ancestor Poem

LI: To write a poem to describe your ancestors using the literary devices of alliteration, onomatopoeia, metaphor, simile, hyperbole and rhyme. 

   

The above google draw showcases my ancestor poem which is written with the help of many literary devices. I used literary devices like metaphor, simile and repetition to make the poem more impactful. A example of it is "my language and my accent, my food and my drinks" use the literary device of repetition. After completing this writing task I came to learn using literary devices in a poem and a lot about my culture. I also liked this task because I got a lot of time to think about my culture and discussing it with my parents. I found this writing task very informative and creative.

STEPS Web: Suffixes

LI: To practice learning suffixes through STEPS Web

The above screenshot shows the practice of suffixes done on STEPS web. Through this fun learning site I completed my learning of suffixes. I completed all the activities like Drop, Spelling, Definitions etc. The activity I liked to complete the most was Visual Memory as I had to remember difficult words. Learning suffixes through STEPS web was very knowledgeable. I would love to learn other topics through STEPS web.

Ta' Ovala Math Challenge

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to find the solution

The above DLO showcases the google draw of the collaborated work of me and Fau on the Ta' Ovala Math Challenge. Today I came to learn that the strategy used by you is the most efficient strategy. Fau was the one who found the strategy and I did the calculations. The strategy we used was multiplication and division. I really liked to complete this Math Challenge with Fau as we can discuss about our suggestions which is the best part of doing work together. I would love to complete more collaborated tasks.

Fishing Math Challenge

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to solve the challenge

The above DLO showcases the google draw of my collaborated work with Victoria on the Fishing Math Challenge. This was my second collaborated work and I had a lot of fun. After collaborating we can discuss our strategy and get our answer right. The strategy used by us was Multiplication and Subtraction. We first discussed our strategy and then and then did our calculation. I would love to do more collaborated tasks.

Distance Learning: Photo Montage

LI: To gain knowledge of life in 1870 through a photo montage.

The above google draw showcases the photo montage made on the life of different people during the 1870's. I really love the thinking, of the pictures telling the information.Through this photo montage I have depicted the life of a women, men, kids, houses and their dresses through picture in the montage. I really loved to complete this Distance Learning Task and I would love to do more of these tasks. 

Distance Learning: Kai Math Challenge

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to solve the challenge

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my answers to the question in the Math Challenge. I found the first task the hardest to solve as I had to think a lot about the strategy and it had a lot of calculations. After completing this DLO I learned to find the most efficient strategy to solve such questions. I really enjoyed completing this Distance Learning Math Challenge.

Distance learning: Venn Diagram

LI: To learn about life in 1870 and 2020 by a Venn Diagram

The above google slide showcases the Venn Diagram on the comparisons and similarities in life of people during 1870. I found making a Venn Diagram an efficient way of understanding as it explains both the comparisons and similarities on the topic clearly through points. I came to know that girls could also study like the boys in New Zealand as in history of other countries girls didn't get a chance to study. I gained a lot of knowledge after completing this Distance Learning Task.

Distance Learning: Extra research

LI: To gain knowledge about the life of the people in New Zealand during 1870

The above DLO showcases the presentation of the photo montages of the life on the different type of people in New Zealand during the 1870. Making these photo montages were very creative and interesting. I found this way of learning quite effective as the photos say everything about the topic. I gained a lot of knowledge about the life of different people in New Zealand after completing this task. I would love to complete more such Distance Learning Tasks.

Distance Learning: 6 Hats Ballad Poem

LI:  To synthesize our knowledge of a topic to help us from a new understanding.

The above DLO showcases the presentation of the research on my understanding on a Ballad Poem of the life of a women in the 1800's. I found the topic of using the hats as a way of learning very interesting and creative. I found the summarizing the best as it gave the full conclusion of my understanding. I really loved to complete this Distance Learning task on the 6 hats Ballad Poem.

Distance Learning: Art Challenge

LI: To think out of the box and make a complete drawing out of the line

The above google draw showcases the drawing I have made from the incomplete lines which were the top of the Genie's hat. When I saw those incomplete lines, an image of a genie clicked in my mind. I got this image from a game I play on the phone. Drawing a genie wasn't that tough for me as I have drawn it earlier. I really loved the topic of 'thinking out of the box'. I would really love to complete some more tasks like these.

Distance Learning: Kiwi Can Problem Solving

LI:  To gain knowledge on the topic of problem solving.

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my understanding on problem solving. This was my first Kiwi can task and I had a lot of fun to complete it. I loved to write the heading of each slide by images as I had tried it the first time. This was a very interesting topic to complete as I had never made a DLO on this problem solving. I think each person must know how to solve a problem in the simplest way. I really loved to complete this Distance Learning Task.

Koukourarata Math Challenge

LI: To find the most efficient strategy to solve the Math Challenges

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my answers on the Math Challenge. This DLO was created by me, Fau and Sulia. This was my first team DLO and it was very fun to do it. The first question was completed by Fau, the second was by Sulia and the third and the last question was completed by me. I would love to do more team tasks with other students too.

Distance Learning: Haiku Challenge 4

LI: To know how to write a Haiku Poem and a comic strip.

The above DLO showcases the google draw on the Haiku Poem I wrote on the topic how Maui slowed the Sun. This time I also added a comic strip which I have created on the story. I added a poster I found very creative and thought to add it in my DLO. This Aotearoa tale was great and I loved to write this poem as well as create the comic strip. I gained a lot of knowledge on Haiku as well after completing this Haiku Challenge 4.

Distance Learning: Whoa! Studios

LI: To use smart searching skills and gain knowledge on Whoa! Studios

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my research on Whoa! Studios. I found the experience task very creative as it develops are imagination level. I found the research on Toshiko Horiochi Macadam very interesting as I came to know a lot about her. Whoa Studios! is a place where the children play on fun slides and watch skits with there family. After completing this presentation I gained a lot of knowledge on Whoa! Studios and loved to complete this Home Learning Task.

Home Learning: Te Puia

LI: To use smart searching skills and  gain knowledge on Te Puia.

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my research on Te Puia. I came to know a lot by the end of this presentation. I learned that Te Puia meant the land of the native Maori. I found the travelling and distance task creative as I came to know the location and the time taken to go there. After completing this DLO I gained a lot of knowledge by completing this Distance Learning Task on Te Puia.

LI: To use smart searching skills and gain knowledge on Kawarau Bridge

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my research on Kawarau Bridge. I found making the brochure very creative as it was a fun way of gaining knowledge. I found interesting that the Kawarau Bridge was the first place to commercially provide the facility of bungee jumping in the world. After completing this DLO I gained a lot of knowledge on Kawarau Bridge and had a lot of fun while completing this Distance Learning Task.

I have also explained all the strategies of each question and added the picture of my answer in my work space slide. I loved to complete this presentation on the Distance Learning Math Challenges.

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my extra research on the Haiku Challenge. I have covered many topics in this DLO which are- Interesting facts, Haiku structure, Syllable, Haiku's History and my Haiku Poems. I found interesting that Haiku Poems were 1000 years old. I gained a lot of knowledge after completing this presentation. I found this Distance Learning Task on Haiku Poems very interesting.

Distance Learning: The Weather

LI: To gain knowledge on the weather and the feeling in Maori.

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my knowledge on the weather and the feelings in Maori. As I never knew anything in Maori it was a little difficult for me but I found it very interesting. I also added some emojis and pictures so that the reader can get a better understanding. I made a slide which also told the way to pronounce the feelings and the weather. The best part was when I had added the poster I made in a game on all the four seasons. I gained a lot of knowledge after completing this Distance Learning Weather task.

Distance Learning: Music Composer

LI: To use smart searching skills and find information on a music composer.

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my research on Johann Sebastian Bach. He is a very famous music composer during the Baroque Period. He had many struggles in his life during his ending days as he suffered from blindness.  His most famous piece of art is Toccata & Fugue. I found interesting that he and his father both had lost their parents at the age of ten. After completing this DLO I gained a lot of knowledge on Johann's life. I loved completing this task.

Distance Learning: Haiku Challenge-3

LI: To use smart searching and write a Haiku Poem.

The above DLO showcases the Haiku Poem which is written by on a very famous Aotearoa Tale- How Maui slowed the Sun. I also added some pictures of Maui and his brothers catching the Sun to make it more attractive. My poem contains four verses and it was a little hard to form the poem as I checked the syllables side by side. I still had a lot of fun making this DLO and completing this task.

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my favourite singer Neha Kakkar. She is a bollywood singer and her music style hiphop and pop. My favorite song in her collection is "Mile Ho Tum Humko". She has a very kind heart and a very melodic voice. She is a judge in Indian Idol and has won many awards. I loved completing this Music Task under Distance Learning.

The above DLO showcases my Haiku Poetry in which I have written three verses.  Haiku poem is a short Japanese poems with a fixed pattern of three lines and seventeen syllables. The first and last line has 5 syllables whereas the second line has 7 syllables. I have chosen the topic winter and have written a Haiku poem of three verses. I really enjoyed completing this challenge.

LI:  To think outside the box, be creative and complete the picture

The above DLO showcases the image of my drawing on two puzzle lovers. I have completed a task in which some lines were drawn and we had to continue the drawing and create an image. The starting lines were the lines between the two puzzles. Using my creativity and after thinking out of the box I created this picture. I loved to complete this Art Challenge under Distance Learning.

Origami Challenges

LI: To know how to make origami animals

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my origami animals. The animals I have made by watching videos are fish, bunny and a dinosaur. The most easiest one to make was the fish but the most difficult one was the bunny. I also colored them so they look a little attractive. I enjoyed making these origami animals.
