Distance Learning: Haiku Poetry


LI: To correctly structure and write a Haiku poem


The above DLO showcases my Haiku Poem. Haiku poem is a short Japanese poems with a fixed pattern of three lines and seventeen syllables. The first and last line has 5 syllables whereas the second line has 7 syllables. Using this information I chose the topic sun and wrote the above Haiku Poem. I enjoyed writing this poem and gained a lot of information on Haiku poetry after completing this DLO.

  1. Haiku is a short form of Japanese poetry in three phrases, typically characterized by three qualities: The essence of haiku is "cutting". The lines of such poems rarely rhyme with each other. Haiku became popular as tanka poems in Japan during the 9th and 12th centuries.

    cool noonafter rain
    as amazing sun so hides
    behind whiten clouds

    inspite of the sun
    so cold raindrops yet falling
    afternoon raindrops
