LI: Using drawing skills to draw animals

The above DLO showcases the collage of my drawings on the animals in the Auckland Zoo. I have drawn the elephant, kiwi, tuatara, and the giraffe. The most easiest to draw was the kiwi but the hardest to draw was the giraffe. Drawing the face of the giraffe was the tricky part. I had a lot of fun making these drawings.

Math Challenge: Alert Level 3

LI: To use a strategy to solve a question

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my strategy on the question mentioned for the alert level 3 math challenge. The two strategies used to solve the question were multiplication of fractions and conversion of time. I first solved the question on a piece of paper and then explained it as shown in the DLO. Solving these questions were really fun and I enjoyed doing it.

The above DLO showcases the presentation of my reflection towards Symphony Math. It is a creative and fun way of learning math. I loved many features of symphony math and they were - checking the learning speed, making notes, boosting confidence, bonus tests, giving breaks and giving badges. I have pasted the screenshots of me working in symphony math. It really is a great way of learning.

The best activity was the bonus activity as I came to know a lot about the New Zealand Harbour Bridge as well as the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The most interesting fact was that a huge amount of money is invested to make both the bridges. I gained a lot of knowledge at the end of this DLO. I loved to complete this Home Learning Task on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

The fact which I felt the most surprising was- the Taitua Arboretum covers an area of 20 hectares which really is a large number. I loved to complete this Home Learning Task on Taitua Arboretum as it was very knowledgeable.

The most amazing one was that MOTAT has trains which are 140 years old. Usually trains start to rust within 60 to 70 years thus it may cost a huge maintenance for the trains. I gained a lot of knowledge after completing this DLO. I loved to complete this Home Learning Task on MOTAT.

The above collage shows the pictures of me and my younger brother lighting the candles and holding the poppies in the dawn, for the remembrance of the brave ANZAC Soldiers on ANZAC Day. In the dawn, at 6:30 a.m. we saw many other people also remembering the ANZAC's but in their bubble due to do the lockdown which made me feel very happy.

The principal gave many awards to the children for the efforts during the holiday. Me and my brother loved to watch the live stream assembly on Friday. 

Art Fun: Distance Learning

LI: To know about the traditional art

The above DLO is a distance learning task and has pictures of my drawings. I have completed all the seven tasks which are basic designs, traditional mix match, Kiwiana stamps, mixing two animals, traditional doodle, family portrait and doodling. The most difficult one was the family portrait as google draw was a new application for me but the most easiest one was the traditional doodle. I enjoyed making these drawings and came to know a lot about the traditional art of New Zealand.

This DLO is made for my CARE Awards Respect task. The above DLO showcases the pictures of me making the dinner for my family. I made cutlets and pizza for my family as I respect them. After completing this task I came to learn to cook pizza as well as cutlet and my family really loved it a lot. I enjoyed cooking and learning about the ingredients and recipes of pizzas and cutlets.

The above video is made for the Respect CARE Award created by the teacher. In the above video I read a storybook to the younger students as they love to listen stories during the holidays. I read the story- ' The Queen Of Spain' which is my younger brother's favorite storybook and I hope that they love my story. I enjoyed making this video.

ANZAC Tasks

LI:  To know about the ANZAC soldiers in detail

The above DLO showcases the tasks on the ANZAC soldiers. The tasks I have mentioned in my DLO are Morse Code, ANZAC Facts, Photo Montage and researches. Morse Coding was an interesting topic as I came to know about the various symbols used in it. I gained a lot of knowledge through the  research on the mother of the empire badge and the soldier's official portrait. I enjoyed making this presentation on Australian and New Zealand Army Cops.

LI: To know the achievements of Captain Tom Moore

The above DLO is a teacher created CARE Award task in the category of respect. The above DLO is a research on Captain Tom Moore, a retired soldier who has fought the second world war. I found interesting that he had completed a 2.5 kilometer walk at the age of 99 even though having a hip surgery. I gained a lot of knowledge about his life, quotes, achievements and inspirations after making this DLO.

Distance Learning: Writing Tasks

LI:  To be able to solve a problem


The above DLO showcases all the writing tasks done during these holidays as distance learning. The best task was the treasure hunt task as my brother was very happy when I told him the rules and I found a game that I can play with my whole family. Another fun task was interviewing my mother as we laughed and talked about her past and future and my mom said it was one her best interviews.  These writing tasks were very interesting and I enjoyed doing it.

Distance Learning: Spot the bird challenge

LI: To gain knowledge about the birds in my lawn

The above DLO shows the pictures of different types of birds in my lawn clicked by me. This is a fun task of Distance Learning. Being a bird-lover, I know all the names of the birds and how to attract them. The birds in the collage are pigeon, myna, blackbird, welcome swallow, sparrow, songthrush, paradise shellduck and black-billed gull. I had kept some grains on the floor and waited for the birds to come. The fun part was that when I tried to click their picture they all flew back to the tree. A new thing I came to know was that the black-billed gull was a migrant bird which means it travels in different countries in a particular season of the year. I came to learn about the features of the birds and loved to complete my challenge.

This collage showcases the pictures of the workout I did in a fun manner. In this challenge I had spelled my name and each letter had its own workout. The most difficult exercise for me were the burpees as i had to do it 60 times. However ,I enjoyed doing this activity.

 LI: To write a presentation on a respected leader

This DLO showcases about the struggle Mahatma Gandhi made for the independence of India. I found interesting that he had made a movement named the salt movement. He had walked to the shore on foot through a long journey with a huge group of people and broke the salt law made by the British to show that this ocean is ours and we have the right to take salt.
