Home Learning: Waitomo Caves

LI: To learn about Waitomo Caves

The above DLO showcases the presentation on my research on the Waitomo Caves. The best activity was the bonus activity in which I made an infographic on the glow worms and came to know a lot about them. The most interesting fact was that they used their glowing color to attract insects which are then eaten by them. I loved to complete this Home Learning Task on the Waitomo Caves.

  1. Waitomo is a village on the North Island of New Zealand. It’s known for its extensive underground cave systems. Thousands of glow-worms light up the Glowworm Caves. The vast Ruakuri Cave features waterfalls and limestone formations. West, Mangapohue Natural Bridge is a high limestone arch over Mangapohue Stream. Northeast of the village, Otorohanga Kiwi House shelters several species of the rare native kiwi bird... We visited this area as a family some 14 year ago now so maybe we need to go back!

    1. Good afternoon Ms. Collins
I am glad to know that you have visited the Waitomo Cave as it has such attractive glow worms that a person must see at least once! I never knew that there was a shelter to protect the rare kiwi birds too! The information you gave was very knowledgeable and thank you for sharing it with me. I would love to gain more information from you.
