LI: To identify the author's purpose.
The above google maps is a collaborative work of Chris, Mathew, Pouvi, Afatia and me under the topic of reading. We identified the purpose or reason of the author writing the article which were to persuade, inform or entertain. Each day, newspaper editors around the world must make decisions about which stories they will run. We explored the different types of current events that are happening in New Zealand as well as plotted the location on google maps. It covered topics like timeliness, relevance, magnitude, unexpectedness, impact, somebody important, oddity, conflict, something negative, continuity, emotions and progress. I came to know a lot after completing this activity and enjoyed working with a different group of people.
