LI: To create a Summer Haiku and read it on a screencastify.
The above screencastify is my Step it up Challenge which showcases my Summer Haiku as the tenth task of the Summer Learning Journey. In this task I made another Haiku which has three verses or sets following the same rules of syllables. Haiku is a traditional poem which is practised in Japan and mainly focuses on the beauty of the natural world. I think the best part about Haiku is that the creator uses key words and not actually sentences which can helps to convey the message more easily. My poem expresses the beauty of the beach as I have talked about the fresh morning breeze in the morning, the sparkling ocean and the sunset. I also liked doing this activity because I have created Haiku poems before and I think that I am improving with the better vocabulary I have used. I am looking forward to complete other tasks of the Summer Learning Journey.
Hi Sakshi
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous picture your haiku paints with words. Your haiku reminds me of the many beautiful sunsets I've sat on the beach and watched at the end of a fun day. We have so many beautiful beaches in NZ that I'm sure you and your family will have fun exploring this summer. My favourite beach is Hot Water Beach because its always so much fun digging our own hot pools to relax in. What is your favourite part of a day at the beach? Keep up the great work!
Mrs Anderson
Hi Ms. Anderson,
DeleteThank you for commenting on my blog and the positive feedback. I agree, beaches can be called the beauty of New Zealand. My family and I visit a new beach every week and I think my favourite beach is Kohimarama Beach because it is less crowded which makes the trip very peaceful and fun. My favourite part of a day at the beach is when we play volleyball, I don't know why but playing games at the beach is something totally different and so amazing! What are the five words that come in your mind when you think about your experience at a beach?
Thank you so much!

Kia Ora Sakshi, Kiana-Marino here from the Summer Learning Journey.
ReplyDeleteKa ngangaro! Good job! Thank you for participating in the “Summer haiku, step it up” activity and for sharing your slides via screen castify. Although I enjoyed all of them my favorite would have to be the last haiku where you talk about the sunset and the colour that it brings. I live next to the beach and my favorite thing to do is watch the sunset against the ocean and watch the sky change colour because it makes me feel grateful for the day.
I really like how you personalised the introduction to this blog post as well as share with us that you have experienced creating haiku’s prior to this, you also mention that your vocabulary is improving which is awesome to hear!
Keep up the mahi! I look forward to seeing your future blog posts this summer.
Ngā mihi
Kiana-Marino
Kia ora Kiana,
DeleteThank you for commenting on my blog and the positive feedback as well. That sounds great! I agree, I would also be sitting at the window the whole time if I lived near the beach. My favourite part of the day at a beach is when we play volleyball, swim in the salty water and then having food after all the fun we did. I think the food tastes much more better because we get very hungry after the workout. What do you like the most about Haiku poems?
Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteKia ora Deborah,
DeleteThank you for taking time and commenting on my blog again. I am glad you liked my work and thank you for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it! I loved reading your Haiku as well. I added the picture in the background so that it could create an image in the readers mind and them about my lines in more detail. Do you think adding the picture was helpful? What other types of poems do you write?
Thank you for the comment!
I would like to talk to you through the comments!
