SLJ (W2/A18): Kick Start Meri Kirihimete

LI: To create a screencastify that showcases your favourite christmas carol with your family.

The above screencastify is my step it up task as the eighteenth activity for the Summer Learning Journey. I have posted this video a little late as we were at our relative's house during Christmas and I didn't get time to complete the tasks. Because of this I couldn't record me and my family but I thought if I could make a screencastify with a collage of my family celebrating christmas with us and singing the carol in the background as it would be better than doing nothing. For making this screencastify I started by by combining all pictures I had during Christmas on a google draw. Then I asked my family to come and sing the carol in the background with the original song playing on youtube. I really liked completing this task because I enjoyed recording the carol we usually sing on Christmas. I am looking forward to complete the second part of this activity.

  1. Mōrena Sakshi,

Fiona here from the SLJ. You have done a great job creating your video of your family singing - ka pai! I really like how you modified the task by making a wonderful photo collage of your family celebrating Christmas together - very clever thinking! Did you have a wonderful Christmas with your family? Your singing sounded lovely.

I enjoy singing carols with my family too. For Christmas my son got a guitar so now he is learning to play Christmas carols for us!

    Keep up the great blogging!

    Fiona (SLJ).

    1. Mōrena Fiona,

Thank you for taking time and commenting on my blog! I am glad you liked my work and thank you for the positive feedback as well. This was my first Christmas in New Zealand and I had a fun time with my family! We were in Rotorua, went to the beach, watched a movie and ate lots of tasty food. How did you celebrate Christmas? That sounds great! I also love playing a guitar. I learnt playing the instrument in my previous school. What carols do you like singing?

      Thank you so much!
I am looking forward to talk to you in the comments.

  2. Kia ora Sakshi,

Thanks for your reply! Your first Christmas in New Zealand sounds like it was wonderful! My Christmas celebration was similar to yours - my family and I went to the beach and ate far too much delicious food! I think my favourite Christmas carol is Jingle Bells - it has a very catchy tune and the lyrics are easy to remember.

Keep up the great work, Sakshi!

    Ka kite anō,

    Fiona (SLJ).

    1. Kia ora Fiona,

I am glad you replied! Thank you for answering my question. That sound great, you would have had a great time. I agree, Jingle Bells sure has a catchy tune. It is the only carol that my brother knows to sing completely because of its easy lyrics. The thing I like the most about Christmas is that it is not just about getting gifts but it is also about giving gifts. That is why my family and I donate the books to child organisations. What do you like the most about Christmas?

      Thank you for the reply!
      -Sakshi
