SLJ (W1/A3): Fishy False Teeth

LI: To create your own comic strip of an imaginary conversation.

Today, for our third Summer Learning Journey task LS2 worked with Room 5 and completed the activity above. The picture showcases the comic strip I have created with Tanisha for my summer learning journey. It has the conversation between the two characters: Cor Stoop and Hugo Slamat. We first started by reading the article and watching the video which gave a brief summary of the story. Then we started by filling a template which contained the introduction, role and outcome of each character. In the end we completed the comic by guessing what the character actually said. I found this activity interesting because we got a chance to write the dialogues of the characters making it more humorous and portray the story in our way. I am looking forward to complete my next Summer Learning Journey Challenge.

Its great to see you completing the Summer Learning Journey Activities! Your comic strip is well written and it honestly gave me a few laughs. My favorite bit is when after one of the characters teeth fell out the other character started to tease him a bit. The dialogue between the two characters makes me understand that you have a creative mind!

If you were one of the 2 characters in this story, which one do you prefer yourself to be? Like, which character would you most likely relate to and why?

Keep up your great work throughout the Summer!

    1. Kia ora Fau,

Thank you for commenting on my blog and the positive feedback. I really appreciate it. Well the question you asked is really good! I can't really relate myself to anyone but I wouldn't like to be Mr. Stoop because he is the one who is being laughed at. I would rather by Mr. Slamat as he is having a fun time teasing his friend. Which character would you prefer to be?

      Thank you!

  2. Kia ora Sakshi,

Thank you for sharing your awesome comic strip you created with Tanisha. It is very funny and I love that you gave a summary of what you did during this task. Great job!

My favourite part was when the man asked the other if he could eat without the teeth. I thought this was funny and also a good question - can you eat without teeth? Maybe just soup!

Do you think you’ll make more comics in the future? I used to enjoy making comics but would find it hard to fit the text in.

I look forward to seeing more of your work!

    1. Kia ora Charlotte,

Thank you for commenting on my blog and the positive feedback. I agree, I don't think we can eat without teeth. We might need to boil the food so much that we can just swallow it or we will have to survive on liquids. I really liked making this comic, so I would love to make more comics in the future. Yeah, I think the same, fitting the dialogues in the text is the trickiest part while making a comic. How many comics have you made? Can you name some of them?

      Thank you!

    2. Kia ora Sakshi,

I'm so glad you will make more comics in the future! I'm not sure exactly how many I made, I remember making a few when I was at school though! I don't have them anymore but I would love to know what they were called.

Other than "Fishy False Teeth" what would you name this comic?

      Ngā mihi,

    3. Kia ora Charlotte,

Thank you for making time and replying to question. I would also love to know what they were called. I have also started to make comics after doing this task. I have actually made a cartoon version of fishy false teeth. Other than "Fishy False Teeth" I would you name this comic "Where are the teeth" because nobody could still find the teeth in the end. Who was your favourite character through out the comic and why?

      Thank you!

    1. Hi Florence!

Thank you so much for taking time and commenting on my blog again. I am glad you liked my work and thank you so much for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it! I agree, the video was so funny, every second made me laugh. My favourite part about this activity was to create the comic strip because we could write whatever we want and portray the story in our own words. What did you find interesting in this activity? How would you describe this story in five words?

Thank you for all the comments on my blog!
