SLJ (W1/A8): Kick Start Rise Up

LI: To create a text graphic to share our lyrics and the chorus of the song.

Today, for my eighth Kick Start Summer Learning Task, I wrote a poem which is called "we will rise" by being inspired from the students in Mangarere College. First, I started by watching the actual music video and then I read some song choruses like "Ocean Eyes: Billie Eilish" and "Rise: Katy Perry". They were very helpful as I got an idea of what I am making and the format of the lyrics. Then I started by creating my song and I decided that I will keep the same topic "we will rise" but with a different chorus created by me. My lyrics are about achieving success as I have said in some phrases like "high in the sky"and "to touch the stars". I have also mentioned how to never leave hope and believe in yourself with some phrases like "never stop by", "break the bars" and "to never give up". At the end I have added a picture which is a silhouette of a person trying hard to reach the summit which can be related to the real world by achieving their goals. I really liked completing this activity as we got a chance to use our creativity and write a poem in our own words, after taking some references. I am very excited to complete my other tasks of the Summer Learning Journey.

  1. Bonjour Sakshi,
I really enjoyed reading your post about this task. I have also done a task like this and I was also was inspired by the mangarere college students.I really liked your lyrics about how you never give up even though you're going through some tough times. That was a very powerful part to your lyrics and maybe somehow inspire someone else to never give up on thing when time is tough.

What was the hardest part of this task ?

    1. Bonjour Afatia,

Thank you for taking time and commenting on my blog. I really appreciate it! I am looking forward to see your blog post as well. I agree, watching the Mangarere College students was very encouraging and motivating. I am glad you liked my work and thank you for writing such a positive feedback.

The most hardest part in this activity was to find a rhyme in the lyrics. I could think of the words to write but I had to find synonyms for the endings words so that it could be called a poem and not just a bunch of lines. What did you find tricky in this activity?

      Thank you!

  2. Hi Sakshi!
I really enjoyed reading your poem. I really like how your poem always ended in a rhyme. I also did this activty and chose to do my chorus as a poem. I also like the picture you used in the background, it looked really cool. Did you struggle with anything when you created this?

    1. Hi Florence,

Thank you so much for taking time and commenting on my blog again. I am glad you liked my work and thank you so much for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it! I am looking forward to see your task as well but I already know that it is great! I think the tricky or challenging part in this activity was to create the rhyme and making lyrics that should made sense. Most of the times they were too long and didn't rhyme so I think that part took a lot of time. What did you find challenging and why? I have one more question, do you think this task helped you think positive and helped you learn a very important moral?

      Thank you!
