SLJ (W2/A19): Step it up 3D Paper

LI: To record a screencastify and explain how I made a fingertrap.

The above screencastify is my step it up task as the nineteenth activity for the Summer Learning Journey. For making this screencastify I started by making my fingertrap by following the introduction video that was provided to us and I made sure that I clicked a picture of ever step I do. Then I combined all the pictures in a presentation and made a layout. Then I made my script which would be explaining each step in detail for making the fingertrap. The materials that I used were a paper, pencil, scissors and ruler. A tip that I would give to the people who would be making this design is that, fold the paper properly and make the creases as perfect as possible because it has a major role for making a firm grip of your finger. I really enjoyed doing this task because I used to make origami before and I think I am improving a lot. I am very excited to complete other Summer Learning Journey tasks as well.

  1. Kia ora Sakshi,

Fiona here again from the SLJ. WOW! What an awesome video you have made explaining in clear detail how to make an origami finger trap. I really like the way you made a script so you were prepared on your video and the way your images rotated across each step.

You have put in a lot of effort to make a very helpful tutorial. For this post I am definitely awarding you BONUS POINTS - ka pai!

I’m off to try and make a finger trap with the support of your video… wish me luck (-:

Keep up the great learning over the summer!

    Fiona (SLJ).

    1. Kia ora Fiona,

Thank you for taking time and commenting on my blog. I am glad you like my work and thank you for the positive feedback as well. I agree, making a script was very useful for me because it made the screencastify more perfect and I actually knew what to do throughout the video. Thank you so much for the bonus points! All the the best! I hope you successfully make a fingertrap. What would think would be the tricky part when you make your fingertrap?

I am looking forward to talk to you in the comments!

  2. Mōrena Sakshi,

Thanks for your reply! What I found tricky about making the origami finger trap was getting the folds just right. I found it to be fiddly but a lot of fun! I have asked my daughter to help me - she is 13 years old and enjoys paper crafts.

Have a great day of learning and blogging!

    Mā te wā,

    Fiona

    1. Mōrena Fiona,

Thank you for replying and answering my question. I agree, even though the folding part was the trickiest it was the most fun at the same time. As I kept on making mistakes I made new ones as well. That's great! She might be very good at paper craft if she made this design! Do you know some interesting facts about origami? If yes, can you list them.

      Thank you for the reply!
